The Course
Loop from Burney Mountain Guest Ranch through Lassen National Forest and Thousand Lakes Wilderness. Course A through D vary with snowpack. Magee Peak only in low-snow years. Roughly 15,000 feet gain and loss. Rocky ridgelines, forest floor, open slopes. Low near 3,300 feet. High near 8,500 on the full route.
The Work
Train for volcanic mountain terrain and long climbs. Snow year means a different high route. Download the GPX. Race requires it on watch or phone.
Kit
Puffy and sun kit both. Poles for long climbs. Bear country. Headlamp from the 4:30 start.
Race Day
Four course variants announced by snow conditions. Cypress Trail Head hard cutoff at 17 hours. Forty-hour finish window. Trail work required starting 2027.
