Course DNA

The Course

Coastal Hilo loop on 100 percent runnable pavement. Just under 18,000 feet gain and 18,000 loss. Starts and finishes at Kaipalaoa Landing Lighthouse. Separate from the Volcano to Kona 100-mile route. Rolling hills around the island perimeter.

The Work

Multi-day road ultra with daily mileage minimum. Sixty-five miles per 24 hours required. Prior 100-mile or multi-day stage race experience recommended. Sleep strategy in crew plan.

Kit

Road shoes plus backup pair. Full island crew with multiple drop locations. Many sections lack food or water access. Plan every refill.

Race Day

Ninety-six hour cutoff from individual start time. 5:00 am Hilo start for 260. December 31 New Year's race. Self-supported aid between crew stops.
