Course DNA
The Course
Loop from Jug Mountain Ranch south of McCall through Payette National Forest. Eight high passes. Twenty-two thousand feet gain on steep granite talus and narrow ridgelines. Deep canyon descents to pristine rivers. Peak elk rut weekend. Finishers compare it to Wasatch with more technical footing.
The Work
Post-graduate mountain ultra. Remote sections hours from help. Hard cutoff at South Crestline. Train steep talus descents and night navigation on sparse trail.
Kit
Full mountain kit. Bear spray. Poles essential. Spot tracker recommended. Read the waiver before registering. No refunds after July 1.
Race Day
6:00 am Saturday start. Thirty-six hour cutoff Sunday 6:00 pm. Hardrock and Western States qualifier. Bugling bulls on course. Do not treat this as a tune-up race.
