Course DNA
The Course
Point-to-point county loop from Escondido. Coast to Crest, Torrey Pines coast, downtown San Diego, El Cajon, Viejas, Cuyamaca Peak, Julian, Anza-Borrego, Pamo Valley. Fifty percent trail, fifty percent road. Roughly 28,000 feet gain across 200 miles. Sea level to 6,500 feet at Cuyamaca.
The Work
Road legs at ultra pace. Multi-day sleep strategy. One hundred road miles means you must run pavement well. Prior 200-mile finish strongly recommended.
Kit
Road and trail shoes or one durable hybrid. Full crew vehicle kit. Navigation app with full route. Headlamps for three nights.
Race Day
Eighty-two hour cutoff. Crew can meet anywhere safe. Self-support possible first 100 miles. Second 100 is remote. Limited field of 24 runners.
