Around the lake on the Rim Trail. Two hundred miles. One hundred five hours. Sleep stations if you use them.
The mountain
Heavenly Stagecoach Lodge. A loop on the Tahoe Rim Trail with detours into aspen, rock gardens, and ridge. Two hundred point four miles. Thirty-two thousand ninety-three feet up and the same down. Alpine lake weather. Snow can linger in June on the high north.
The work
Back-to-back mountain days. Sleep is a choice at three stations. Twelve full aid stops. Six with crew. You train long ridge, night cold, and a plan for when to lie down.
Race morning
Stateline. One hundred five hours. National Forest. The full loop is back. Follow the current map, not an old half-loop year.
Watch outs
Sun on the water. Wind on the rim. Sleep debt that looks like a wrong turn. Crew only where the race says crew.
